Weekend introductory paragliding course in Savoie

Have you never flown before and are you looking for a proper introductory paragliding course in Savoie?
This Level 1 course is designed to introduce you to the sport, teach you the technical and theoretical basics, and then enable you to make your first supervised solo flights, all over 4 days spread across two consecutive weekends.
This course takes place in small groups of up to 7 people; it is aimed at beginners who want to learn to fly solo gradually.

Learn the basics of paragliding in 2 weekends with Aiguebelette Parapente

With the paragliding taster course, you’ll get off to a flying start! It’s the all-inclusive package to introduce you to the world of free flight.
During this course, you’ll first learn how to handle the paraglider on the ground, then the mechanics of flight, before gradually progressing to ‘real flying’. The aim is simple: to introduce you to the sport in a methodical, rigorous and enjoyable way, at a paragliding school on a human scale.

The beginner’s course programme, spread over 2 weekends, to get you off to a proper start

The first 3 days: theory and practice on the ground

The first three days are devoted to the fundamentals, combining theory and practice on the ground.
You’ll first practise handling the wing and developing the reflexes essential for flying safely. Training sessions on the training slope take place on solid ground. They allow you to practise inflating the wing, controlling it, positioning yourself correctly and mastering the correct take-off techniques. This phase is essential for understanding how the paraglider behaves on the ground and building the foundations for your future as a pilot.
The programme also includes a session in the wind tunnel, using our simulator in a real harness, to practise the key phases of flight: getting into the harness, take-off, in-flight position, turns, landing approach, as well as safety procedures such as deploying the reserve parachute.

Alongside this, theory sessions structure the course, covering an introduction to weather, piloting, the mechanics of flight, aerology, aviation regulations and the environment.

Day 4: your first solo flights

The final day is devoted to your first solo flights, carried out entirely on your own but always under close supervision.

Our training approach involves one instructor stationed at the take-off point and another at the landing site, to ensure close supervision at every stage of the flight. The trainee is guided by radio to take off, fly and land under the best possible conditions.

A minimum of two solo flights is planned, provided the trainee has reached the required standard and weather conditions permit.

Who is this weekend introductory course for?

This course is aimed at anyone who wishes to seriously explore paragliding, with a comprehensive four-day programme. It is suitable for complete beginners with no prior experience who want to learn gradually before considering the next stage of their training.

Why choose this weekend introductory course in Aiguebelette?

Choosing this paragliding introductory course in Aiguebelette means learning at a school established in 2005, within a family-run and experienced organisation, with a progressive programme leading from the ground to your first solo flights.

Course content invoiced according to weather conditions

As with any paragliding course in the mountains, the content actually covered depends on the weather conditions. To ensure fairness and transparency, the final invoice is issued at the end of the course, based on the content actually covered. Any content not covered will result in a credit note for the uncompleted elements. This clarification is important, as it demonstrates an honest and realistic approach to paragliding instruction.

Mandatory inspection of personal equipment

If you bring your own equipment, it will be subject to a mandatory check; please do not hesitate to contact the office to discuss this before you arrive for the course. This rule contributes to the overall rigour of the course and the priority given to safety, both in terms of equipment and instruction.
