Why choose our paragliding school in Savoie?

The long-established school at Lake Aiguebelette

Aiguebelette Parapente is the long-established school at Lake Aiguebelette; we have been in operation since 1 May 2005. This long history matters: it reflects a genuine understanding of the sites, local conditions and the needs of our students. For a future pilot, this means the assurance of learning within a well-established organisation, firmly rooted in the local area and dedicated to the genuine progress of its trainees.

We don’t just sell a course; we offer personalised, progressive and supportive guidance to help you learn paragliding in the best possible conditions.” Pierre Pugnot, school director.

Training supervised by state-qualified instructors, FFP-accredited (equivalent to FFVL)

The school is run by a team of experienced professionals. All our instructors are state-certified.
We are a ‘Jeunesse Et Sport’ accredited organisation, and our school is certified by the French Parachuting Federation (FFP).

FFP / FFVL – what’s the difference?

The FFP (French Parachuting Federation), whose members invented paragliding in the 1970s, was the authorised body for paragliding in its early days; the FFVL (French Free Flight Federation) became the authorised body for our aerial sport in 1990. The two federations are bound by an agreement governing the organisation of paragliding. The licences are equivalent. The training courses are similar.
The FFP requires paragliders to hold a Level B licence to fly solo independently outside of a school. This reflects our values of professionalism, safety and rigour within our aeronautical discipline (classified as a high-risk sport by insurers).

A progression designed to last

At Aiguebelette Parapente, there is a clear progression: you start with an introductory course, move on to the progression course or flight packages, and can then progress to more technical courses such as performance flying, cross-country, SIV, Hike & Fly or touring. This continuity is a major advantage that will put your mind at ease, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced pilot: with us, you’ll find a coherent progression in your paragliding journey!
